SJB welcomed Fr. Robert as a Curate priest in August 2024. After a twenty-eight-year career in executive leadership and management in law firms in Tacoma, Seattle, and Hawaii, he attended seminary at The Church Divinity School of the Pacific, Berkeley, California. He was ordained a priest in the Episcopal Church on June 15, 2024. Fr. Robert’s early career included working for a U.S. House of Representatives member, serving with Catholic Community Services - SW in Parish Ministry and Human Resources Management, and completing a Master of Pastoral Ministry Degree from Seattle University.
Fr. Robert’s call to ordained ministry was rekindled when he and his husband, Carlos, found their spiritual home in the Episcopal Church. They were ultimately married at St. Mark’s Episcopal Cathedral, Seattle, Fr. Robert’s sponsoring parish for ordination. His early church ministry was with Youth and Young Adult Ministry, Adult Formation, and in recent years, as a Verger, various Peace & Justice ministries, Vestry service, and Co-Convener of Stewardship. He served as a Listener and Board Treasurer at Underhill House, a drop-in house of prayer on Capitol Hill in Seattle.
While in seminary, he represented his class on the Worship Committee and was the residential community ombudsperson for 2023-2024. Fr. Robert and Carlos call Seattle their home with Micah Graham, their two-year-old Chihuahua-Terrier mix adopted pup.
