James is a postulant for ordination in the Episcopal Church, as well as a writer and game designer at Wizards of the Coast. A former United Methodist minister, he has an M.Div. from Union Theological Seminary in New York. He joined St. Columba's Episcopal Church in 2015, where he's been a regular lay preacher and reader. He has led a streamed Morning Prayer service since 2020, and recently became a trainer in the College for Congregational Development.
James serves about 15 hours a week at SJB, experiencing the Episcopal Church in the St. John's context, being a part of the preaching rotation, assisting liturgically as appropriate, accompanying Canon Elise and our community in formation and community engagement, deepening our spiritual vitality, pastoral care, and more. He also works with the residents of Providence Mount St. Vincent, under the leadership of their Department of Spiritual Care.
We anticipate that James will be with us much of 2024, and then he will continue on in the ordination process here in the Diocese of Olympia.
