Building Our Legacy of Hope

In June 2025, SJB launched a 3-year capital campaign with a goal of raising $800,000. We ended up with $1,350,000 in pledges and gifts — 60% more than our goal! Thus far, more than $864,000 (almost two-thirds of the total) has been received. This has enabled us to reroof our buildings, install solar panels, and acquire a new organ. On the horizon are replacement of the parish hall windows and an updated security system.

The pace of project completions has been dictated by prudence. By this I mean our Implementation Team is carefully prioritizing all projects, soliciting bids, vetting businesses we are considering, and doing volunteer labor wherever possible to keep costs down. A chart in the narthex shows our progress. The gray in our campaign logo will be replaced by green as projects reach completion, and yellow will be added to the sun as pledge funds are collected.

Please know it is not too late for you to make a gift toward our 3-year campaign. Perhaps you are new to our church; maybe you are able to make a gift this year that you couldn’t last year; or possibly you wish to make an additional gift. We welcome any new pledges or donations! 

You may wonder why we request more funds if we surpassed our original goal. The answer is simple: $800,000 was a goal set by our consultant who, in comparing the size of our parish with others, concluded $800K was likely the most we could expect. However, the consultant could not measure the love that all of you have for St. John's, nor could he measure the depth of your generosity. Please keep in mind, too, that 10% of all we collect is being set aside for benevolence and outreach projects. None of us wants a church that is sound in structure but lacks the resources to do God’s work of helping those in need in our community.
