The Path: A Journey Through the Bible

Chapter Fifteen: Go Up and Rebuild

This is a story of how the people of Israel returned home to the place they loved, Jerusalem, after a long time away. While in exile, prophets like Nehemiah were sent by God to watch over the Israelites and remind them of God’s ways. Jerusalem had been destroyed and its gates destroyed by fire. King Artaxerxes of Persia was helped by God and approved the return to Jerusalem. The journey was not easy, and old enemies wanted to block the restoration. With God’s help, the project was completed, but Nehemiah knew that walls were not enough to keep the city strong; during the exile much had been forgotten, so much had been lost. The people were then reminded of their history and the rules God had set down for how they should live in the world. In this class, you will find additional information about this incredible journey and the future of Jerusalem. Please join us.
