The Path: A Journey Through the Bible

Chapter Six: The Waters Were Divided

Don’t miss an action-packed chapter from The Path as we learn together from the scripture contained in chapter 6 based on the books of Exodus and Deuteronomy. This is a section of scripture that likely has familiarity. We enter the story as Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, is reeling from increasingly dreadful plagues brought on by his unwillingness to let the Israelites go. Finally, Pharaoh relents. The Israelites are told they are free to leave their lives of slavery. But shortly after, just as they were heading out and following a pillar of fire guiding their way, Pharaoh’s soldiers roar into action. What follows is unforgettable. At this week’s class we’ll talk about what we learn about God from these events, which include multiple startling miracles. God provides amazing deliverance during the long journey of his people who wander in the wilderness for 40 years. In this class you’ll be encouraged to think about your own journey, including times of personal wandering, and how these experiences have perhaps impacted your faith. This is also a section from the Bible where we learn about the laws given to Moses. Some of these laws are very specific and are intended to guide God’s people for their own wellbeing. We’ll explore together how these laws might speak to us today.
