Looking for Deeper Conversations About Race?

If you are hungry for deeper conversations about racial reconciliation, please join us for a brand new Sacred Ground circle beginning Sunday, November 6.

 Sacred Ground is a film and readings-based dialogue series on race, grounded in faith. This program will be held on in the parish hall on various Sundays from 2:00-4:00 pm. Sacred Ground circles are invited to walk through chapters of America’s history of race and racism, while weaving in threads of family story, economic class, and political and regional identity.

 The 11-part series is built around a powerful online curriculum of documentary films and readings that focus on Indigenous, Black, Latinx, and Asian/Pacific American histories as they intersect with European American histories.

 Participants are invited to peel away the layers that have contributed to the challenges and divides of the present day -- all while grounded in our call to faith, hope, and love.

 In April 2022 the creators of Sacred Ground, in collaboration with the UBC revised the curriculum somewhat. You will be participating in the revised curriculum.

 St. John’s Sacred Ground second circle will begin on Sunday November 6, meeting several times each month on selected Sunday afternoons through February 12, 2023.

 Specific meeting dates are: November 6, 13, 27, December 4, 11, January 8, 15, 22, 29, and February 5 and 12.
