News from West Seattle Interfaith Network & SJB Homeless Workers

Starting in December, SJB will begin collecting items for Camp Second Chance, located on Meyers Way SW, just south of the LDS Meetinghouse.  The Seattle Police Department has assigned Officer Todd Weibke, to the West Seattle area as a monitor of the homeless camps, issues, and help.  He also monitors Alki and greenbelt areas.  Officer Wibke will be working with WIN to provide “ziplock” Christmas bags to folks in Camp Second Chance and other homeless people in our area.  If you would like to be part of “stuffing” of bags, please come to the LDS Meetinghouse on 44th SW and SW Andover on December 20th, 6:30 – 8:00 pm to help on the assembly line.  Help could also be needed on December 24 and December 25 serving a meal each day for about 1-1/2 hours.  Investigations are being done to find restaurants to donate “hot food” on those days for the meals.  For more informaiton on WIN, these projects or other projects in our area, please speak to Sharon Parker.
